FUNimation recently made a statement on their Facebook page regarding getting the latest DBZ movie. The statement goes as follows:
You wanna know the best way to support a franchise and help us get the acquisitions you want? Buy existing titles in the market so we have the funds to do it.
So what does this mean? For those that are surprised by this statement, you shouldn’t be. We at DBZExperts were informed of this over a month ago, but now it has been made public. (See screenshots below)
The information we received about this was in response to our ongoing Petition. Justin Rojas is the Sr. Manager of Social Strategy and Development for FUNimation. He informed us to “keep up the chatter” and also to have people buy the latest DBZ merch. Money is a huge factor, so YES we do have to contribute to buying DBZ product so FUNi has capital to get the rights to it. Yes, he also said petitions don’t normally work, BUT we are more than successful with over 10,000 signatures now. FUNimation needs to know there are still fans out there, and our petition shows that their money won’t be wasted. I’d like to believe that our petition contributed to the release of that statement!
So as fans, what should we do? Purchase the latest DBZ titles! From where? FUNimation recommends Amazon. Keep supporting!
Side note, the petition will be mailed to FUNi headquarters next week.
